alternate revenue streams

Hi Fit Pros,

TrainerLisa here and in this month’s fabulous issue of Fitness Professional Online, I’m going to give you some ideas on how to tie in Alternative Streams of Revenue in your business.

Regardless of whether you’re an employee (at a gym, spa or wellness center), you’re an independent contractor, or work for yourself, everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) in our industry has thought of or has some Alternative Stream of Income. And if you don’t but have always thought about it, well think no more, it’s time to act and start securing your future!

Now before I get into what those stream are, and how you can tap into the business with little effort (hopefully), we’ll briefly touch on what exactly Alternative Streams of Revenue are, and what it can mean to you and your business.

What is Alternative Streams of Revenue?

If you’re not familiar with this terminology, you may have heard of Passive Streams of Revenue (PSR)? Alternative Streams of Revenue is where you have additional revenue coming into your business through another business that usually is close to your first business. Passive Streams of Revenue is where you have a system in place and the business pretty much works for itself. Both are awesome possum and worth looking into!

For example, being in the fitness industry I hope you have a passion for what you do? If so, then your Alternative Stream(s) of Revenue usually is something that closely resembles or has something to do with your business, such as equipment and supplements.

Passive Steams of Revenue is almost the same, but with a little twist on it…you set up your system and it pretty much works for its self…hence the word “passive”…pretty awesome right?!

Okay, now that we know what Alternative Streams of Revenue is, we’ll look at some examples of Alternative Streams of Revenue and I hope this will fire up your fitness creative juices to contact one or more of these companies! Woohoo!!

Alternative Streams of Revenue Companies: Product

There are many companies that you can use for your business to increase your revenue, which is can be so great! Now keep in mind these are just a small amount of companies that you can use, there are many, many, many more! Use your favorite sites such as Bing.com, MozillFoxfire.com, Yahoo.com or Google.com and search under “Fitness Affiliates”, “Nutrition/Supplements Affiliates”

Black Mountain Products – I personally discovered them at last year’s IDEA World Convention and absolutely love their products, especially as their bands can go over 35lbs in weight! www.Blackmountainproducts.com

SPRI – One of my personal favorites! SPRI is tried and true for all things all resistance, including bands, med balls, ropes, jump ropes and all the newest portable equipment there is! www.Spri.com

Power Systems – Great equipment for the fitness professional who incorporates outdoor fitness, as well as in-home, studio and gym equipment! www.Power-Systems.com

The following companies often have affiliate programs for their music that you can post to your site or as a referral:

Music Dynamix – www.Dynamixmusic.com

YES! – www.yesfitnessmusic.com

supplementsProductions – Nutrition/Supplements

This is an area that is probably one of the most controversial in our industry and the debate will always wage on….Supplements! Many fitness professionals are for supplements for both their clients and themselves, while there are some fitness professionals who don’t believe in supplements either for themselves nor clients, and then you have Fitness Professionals who are somewhere in the middle.

Now my article is not to try and persuade you to or to not deal with Health and Nutritional/Supplement companies, but to look at each company logically, do your research and decide if working with, signing as a Coach, or using as an affiliate is in your and your company’s best effort. As I’ve said before these are just a few companies that you can use as an Alternative Revenue Streams:

Bodybuilding.com – Okay, who hasn’t heard of this company?! I personally love their prices, but unfortunately Bodybuilding.com do not have an affiliate program in California. How the affiliate program works with this company is when you’re accepted, you will be able to direct your clients (or yourself) to purchase product and based upon the monthly (?) amount, they will cut you a check. Bodybuilding.com has an extremely large product base and I have to admit, their customer service representatives are awesome!

Beachbody.com – As a Beachbody Coach, I will keep my personal feelings separate, but for the fitness professional, Beachbody has great products including Shakeology and some of the hottest workout videos in the industry featuring some of the best known trainers including Chalene Johnson (PiYo, TurboKick, TurboFire), Tony Horton (PX90 series), Amber with the 21-Day Fix, and of course Shaun T (Insanity)! Part of your monthly fees are for your personal website as well as the opportunity to purchase BOD (Beachbody on Demand) which allows you to stream the newest videos from your computer, laptop or mobile device! www.Beachbody.com

Advocare.com – Offers Challenges, Weight management programs, sports nutrition as well as a skin care line. Check out their site and see what else www.Advocare.com has! Check out all the great products that AdvoCare has as well as the awesome Spark to give you a great boost of energy! Your month fees will include your personal Advocare.com site!

Isagenix.com – IsaLean, their famous 7 & 30-Day Cleanse, Challenges, Energy and Performance as well as Healthy Aging and Weight loss programs! www.Isagenix.com Your fees will include the upkeep of your webpage to direct your potential customers/coaches to!

BodybyVi.com – BodybyVi has great products including their 90-day challenge. Fuel, Transformation and Shape Kits are also available for as well as your own personal website to direct your clients to!

PrivateLabelFitness.com – I’ve included www.Privatelablefitness.com first because I Art Rothafel is awesome! I’ve worked with him and his company for over 15 years and they only get better. Private Label Fitness is just that, they have the products, you have your company/business label and you can purchase their products with your label on it! Private Label Fitness has great marketing products including software to help you take your business to the next limit.

There are many others companies that have affiliate programs for Fitness Professionals, so do your research and get ready to be amazing!

Okay Fit Pros! I hope this has lite the fire on how to supplement your income with a variety of Alternative Streams of Revenues that you can incorporate into your business as early as today!
